Playful CHic
Playful Chic is a collaborative apparel design project that explores the balance between sophistication and play through material experimentation, silhouette development, and layered construction. Inspired by artworks viewed at the Blanton Museum of Art, the project translates visual themes such as high contrast, color blocking, cutouts, layering, and continuous line work into wearable forms.

Developed through an iterative process of sketching, prototyping, and textile experimentation, the project combines structured tailoring with expressive details to create garments that feel dynamic yet refined. Material studies, including dyed lace, layered fabrics, and shape manipulation, guided the evolution of the final silhouettes, allowing the designs to shift between softness, movement, and sculptural form.
Collaboration played a central role in the project’s development, with ideas continuously exchanged and refined through collective critique and experimentation. This process informed not only the final garments but also the supporting technical documentation, including pattern development, prototyping, and tech packs. Through the fusion of artistic references and fashion design, Playful Chic reimagines everyday wear as expressive, adaptable, and visually engaging.
